RSS & Newsreaders -- The Basics

RSS: Really Simple Syndication (aka Rich Site Summary) is, in a nutshell, a way that you can have content from your favorite sites delivered to you instead you searching for them. Newsreaders or feed readers is a website or software that pulls your feeds together in one place. Here's a short video from YouTube that gives a really good explanation of the whole process:

RSS Feed Example

Blogs, Wikis and many contemporary websites publish their content in the RSS file format. For example go to to the website for the Greensboro News & Record <http://www.news-record.com/>
and look for the orange RSS symbol, click on it, you’ll find instructions on subscribing to the newspaper's RSS feeds.
